Hithuiis Spirit Construction Management

The Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation owns and operates Hithuiis Spirit Construction Management (HSC).

Hithuiis, meaning “hard fought for,” embodies the spirit of the newly incorporated (2020) Tla-o-qui-aht construction management company, working mindfully with the Nation and other local sub-contractors.

HSC specializes in earth works, civil construction, and carpentry. The Nation and HSC have been working together to provide employment opportunities for the community and improve land and economic development through construction projects. More than 50% of employees are First Nations, with the majority being Tla-o-qui-aht members. One major project recently completed was the construction of Tsawaak RV Resort, which opened in mid-2023.
